Installation Guide

Installation Guide White, Green and Grey Fibres

  1. Ensure you have a good, well-draining base for your arena, constructed out of the appropriate materials. No matter what arena surface you have, they can’t cover up any major problems you try to hide underneath!
  2. Have a minimum sand depth of 14cm, with an even depth.
  3. Place your fibre bales around the arena& then draw each bale’s area in the sand, according to the mixing ratio: Flatwork, dressage: 3 to 3.5kg/square metre. Jumping, schooling: 4 to 4.5kg/square metre. Gallops: 2.5 to 3kg/square metre.
  4. Be careful when opening the bales as they are tightly packed and the wires can spring open when cut. Stay at a safe distance & protect your eyes. Ensure you collect any of the wires immediately after cutting them to avoid them getting lost in the fibre.
  5. The fibre bales are in sections similar to hay bales. Take out the fibre a section at a time & thoroughly break it up, covering the area you’ve marked out. This can be done by hand, or using a straw chopper.
  6. Repeat with all the fibre bales across the entire arena, maintaining an even thickness.
  7. Once the fibre is spread across the entire arena, in dry weather water the arena thoroughly, you will notice a change in the fibre’s appearance.
  8. Mix the fibre into the sand to a depth of about 10cm, using a power harrow or stone burier. Take care not to damage the base of the arena.
  9. Roll the arena using a tandem roller.
  10. Use a sand & fibre leveller to complete the arena (do not use grass spring tines).
  11. Leave the arena to settle for a few days if possible.
Make sure you have a good, well-draining foundation for your arena, built with the right materials. No matter what kind of arena surface you have, it won’t hide any major issues you try to cover up underneath!

Installation Grey Fibre

Installation Guide White, Green and Grey Fiber

(North America)

  1. Aim for a minimum depth of sand of 3-3,5 inches, evenly spread.
  2. Position your fiber bales around the arena and then outline the area for each bale in the sand, following these mixing ratios: For flatwork and dressage, use 0.5 to 0.6 pounds per square foot. For jumping and schooling, use 0.6 to 0.8 pounds per square foot. For gallops, use 0.5 to 0.6 pounds per square foot.
  3. Exercise caution when opening the bales as they are tightly packed and the wires can spring open when cut. Stay at a safe distance and protect your eyes. Make sure to collect any cut wires immediately to prevent them from getting lost in the fiber.
  4. The fiber bales are in sections similar to hay bales. Take out the fiber section by section and thoroughly break it up, covering the marked-out area. You can do this by hand or use a straw chopper.
  5. Repeat this process with all the fiber bales across the entire arena, maintaining an even thickness.
  6. Once the fiber is spread across the entire arena, water the arena thoroughly. This will help to keep the fiber in the sand.
  7. Mix the fiber into the sand to a depth of about 3 inches using a power harrow or stone burier. Be careful not to damage the arena’s base.
  8. Roll the arena using a tandem roller.
  9. Use a sand and fiber leveler to finish the arena (do not use grass spring tines).
  10. Let the arena settle for a few days if possible.
